Pros

Don't have to deal with insurances & high starting pay

Cons

Unprofessional & rude GM & staff, double/triple booking, unethical practices (requiring doctors to see a minimum of 55+ patients/day, requiring doctors to push specific contact lens brands & solutions), illegal practices (ie: dispensing contacts when doctor is not in the office or without doctors consent)

Pros

You don't have to deal with insurance. When you leave for the day your duties are done. No hiring/firing duties. Pretty good compensation package.

Cons

Corporate bosses that tell the doctors which contact lenses to fit, often pushing unhealthy outdated lenses on the patients and tying the doctor's compensation levels (when allowed by state law) to the # of patients seen and the % of those who walk with an Rx for the "preferred" contact lens: 'Softmed'. They even tell you which solutions you have to recommend. Can these business practices even be legal in what is supposed to be a medical office? No advanced diagnostic equipment, and a corporate culture that actively DISCOURAGES doctors from practicing full-scope optometry, because that gets in the way of the company's top priority: having the docs write as many glasses and contacts Rx's in a shift as possible.

Pros

The bonus system was good. Everyone had room for a good paycheck if they put forth a good earnest effort. The general manager had great knowledge and was a terrific asset to the company

Cons

They did not rotate Saturdays for anyone to be off. Management never had Mondays off so they would have a two day holiday. They could have rotated the contact lens manager GM and assistant eyeglass manager on Mondays to where everyone would have a two day weekend ever so often. No one had a set day off except for the part-time people. The amount of pay that you received for your hourly Salary was ridiculous.
