Pros
This is a great company to start out a career with if you are coming in as a CA and looking to move up and stay with the company for the duration of your career. ACC values these "lifers" and rewards them for putting in what they call "years of service" with the company. However, if you didn't start at ACC as a CA, are you at a disadvantage compared to peers who did? The company has such structured, organized processes for every aspect of daily business that everything is already laid out for you, minimal effort is required and you can complete everything expected of you within a normal workday Great work-life balance Internal software programs are amazing, user friendly, and make it easy to get the job done
Cons
Everyone talks about how much opportunity is available at ACC, but in reality you don't move up without putting in those "years of service". You are basically waiting in line behind 127 other people in your position to be promoted to the next level, no matter what your background is, and restricted even more by your geographical preferences. Low salaries, minimal opportunity for pay increases Industry experience with other student housing companies, advanced degrees, and real world experience outside of ACC don't seem to be valued by upper management. When accepting a position with ACC, be sure to clarify if your position falls underneath any management structures that include spousal relationships, family relationships, brother sister, dating, etc. I would never have accepted my position if I had known that my supervisor reported directly to a supervisor that they had one of these connections to.
