Pros

Important mission, good people, great CEO in Larry Hausner, exciting developments in mission-oriented efforts, and a field that is expanding (unfortunately) due to the prevalence of diabetes. The benefits are amazing too.

Cons

The pay is a major con. Although higher level professionals may earn more, entry-level salaries are on the low end.

Great Cause, Wonderful volunteers and participants! Pay is ok. Amazing co-workers at the local level!

Cons

Unrealistic expectations on employees, Zero work life balance! Employees expected to front the cost of events. Upper Management inconsistent and unorganized.

Pros

Great benefits and vacation time. National support such as IT and finance were always helpful.

Cons

Poor leadership at the local level. There seems to be a handful of ED's who do their job well. The rest come and go quickly which lead to poor performing offices and low morale. The ED's often lack connections, experience and confidence one should have at that level. Middle management, specifically fundraisers seem to have to go at it on their own versus having leadership open doors through board members and other high level contacts.
