Mission Our Vision: Life free of diabetes and all its burdens. Our Mission: To prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.
Description The American Diabetes Association ® (ADA) is the nation’s leading voluntary health organization fighting to end diabetes and helping people living with diabetes thrive. Since 1940, we have driven discovery and research to prevent, manage, treat, and ultimately cure diabetes. Through the Obesity Association, a division of the ADA, we are also working to reduce the prevalence of obesity—a leading risk factor for type 2 diabetes.
With help from a nationwide network of volunteers and health care professionals, our fully-remote and amazing team does this by: • Leading ground-breaking research to prevent, treat, and cure diabetes globally. • Advocating to drive policy changes and improve access to quality care for all people living with diabetes and/or obesity. • Providing trusted, evidence-based diabetes and obesity education for prevention, management, and treatment. • Connecting people living with diabetes and/or obesity with resources, information, and communities to help them thrive and lead healthier, fuller lives.
We put the “fun” in fundraising with our signature events—Step Out® Walk, Tour de Cure®, and others—held around the country that support and bring awareness to diabetes and obesity research and care.
Together, we are on mission to prevent and cure diabetes and improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. We also are working toward the same goals for obesity and those living with it. We all look forward to the future where diabetes is a thing of the past and obesity is no longer a global health challenge. Until then, we fight. Will you join us?
