      Pros

      If you good at dodging questions you will get far. Having a lot in common with your boss will get you far, even if you don't care about the job. If you do activities outside of work with you boss, you will get far.

      Cons

      Management plays the favorites game. Basically if your supervisor likes you will get to placed on some kind of special project that will lead to your promotion, even if you do half as much work as the person next to you.

      Pros

      The work is really rewarding. Great local coworkers.

      Cons

      Upper leadership cannot be trusted. They have proven themselves to go back on their word and implement unpopular changes. A coworker aptly described how things have changed as feeling like AEP was bought out by private equity. No longer does the main mission seem to be to provide power to people, it seems to be to squeeze blood from a stone and provide profit to shareholders.
