Pros

AGU has progressive values, interesting work. Pay is decent. I’m thankful for AGU’s flexibility with telework and childcare flexibility. It can be a rewarding experience. People her are smart and kind. The office building has an exciting vibe to it and has a awesome location. There’s optimism that new leadership will make changes.

Cons

Morale has gone down over the past four years. Lots of control and misinformation feeding into decisions and messages that get to the top. Random jobs and pay, experience that don’t match and are unfair. We’ve seen how employee-manager problems are not handled professionally or with sensitivity. Shallow and short-sighted HR leadership that continues to avoid accountability.

Pros

Fully remote with option to work from nice office space in DC. Generous retirement account contribution. 4-day work week in the summer. Work/life balance practiced and/or respected by most colleagues. Lots of smart, hard-working staff.

Cons

The interim CEO is not the best communicator. She is liked by a small group of people that are loyal to her and get rewarded for their loyalty. Salaries seem low for junior staff but high for some executives compared to other non profits, probably due to the flat rate of salary bumps.
