Pros

AIFS has many divisions doing the work of cultural exchange. Opportunities to travel and train, focus on DEI, and strong paths for advancement for those who are interested.

Cons

Like many companies, the business sometimes relies on regulatory policies and trends in travel and higher ed, which can be challenging.

Pros

- Seemingly nice people. Competent at their jobs except for when it comes to managing - Nice office - Steady, profitable business. Been around 60 years - Decent benefits - Party planning committee on point

Cons

- Management extremely uncommunicative. They won't tell you about the quality of your work, attendance, etc. until after they lay you off. - Bizarrely militant about being in the office. I had to commute from New York to Stamford twice a week and would inevitably be late sometimes and I was reprimanded, which was weird because whenever I went to the office I rarely had any in-person meetings. Much of the time nobody talked to me at all. Should note that half of my team lived in states too far to commute from, yet they weren't subjected to the same scrutiny. - Zero onboarding. I had to ask how the company works constantly and it felt like pulling teeth. Most of the employees have been there for over a decade and act weird when you don't know what they know. - Only want you for specific projects to be done, and will have no problem kicking you to the curb when those are done. I completed several high-profile projects for them and was told after 90 days my supposed full-time employment was just a "trial period". - Overall just weird vibes. Looking back, there were indications they never intended me to work here for more than 3 months
