Pros

The benefits were great- I get a pension at age 55. There was also a decent work/life balance and most of the people who worked there were smart and eager to do a good job

Cons

It's very political. Promotions are based on who you know and not necessarily the work you do. Also, an increasing focus on sales and less so on service.

Pros

Start pay is good, willing to train you even without previous insurance knowledge and experience. They pay for the class needed and licensing tests.

Cons

Training stinks, much of it was taking turns reading the policies. They monitor the agents constantly, even the reps that have 20 plus years experience are forced to sit with the manager each month and listen to 3 phone calls chosen at random. Then the manager will "coach" you on ways you could have done better and things you did wrong. If you are a male, this is the place to be. The male employees seem to have different rules and regulations. They can be out constantly or get behind on work and that is ok. I'm not sure why, I think it is because there are so few males in this office. If you go to work and don't feel well, you can make a doc appt. If the day is closed, too many people off that day, you will be marked unexused for the time you are away for the appointment. No appreciation that you are doing all you can to not miss work time. Only a few agents qualify to receive first choice on incoming new policy calls. All the other agents are sitll rated for a minimum amount of new business and life insurance referrals. Insurance rates are high, customers are facing the second increase in rates in two years, already many are leaving due to the first increase.

Pros

Decent Benefits, nice coworkers. Employees support eachother.

Cons

Micro managed to excess which makes the job more stressful than it needs to be. I used to enjoy selling and servicing insurance. You have a small amount of time (20 mins approx) a day to get coffee, water or go to the bathroom and if you go over that you will be questioned. Make no mistake its not an office setting its a Call center 100%. Bathroom for the entire floor has three stalls so be prepared to wait (often a line) or you may have to go to a different floor which will take more time. This inconvenience is not taken into consideration.
