Pros

Convenience within Union Station is great. Never have to leave during the day. Everything is here. People overall are great to work with. Paid very little out of pocket during doctor visits. Vested within the first year of service. Mr. Boardman is a wonderful person. Very down-to-earth and approachable. He's well-respected within the company.

Cons

People in the yard are a lot friendlier than back office staff. You are expected to be at work during inclement weather, unless it's a dire emergency. Be prepared to buckle up and get to work as best as you can. Some offices are great to work with. Others aren't. Corporate culture is determined by the departmental head.

Pros

Great benefits for full-time, railroad retirement, can relocate to many large cities easily.

Cons

Very bad on-boarding system, didn't get badge for weeks, nothing at Amtrak is streamlined, procurement is a mess.
