Pros

The investigative work is interesting. You will see and go places that are extremely unique. You will meet very interesting people from all walks of life. You will learn develop a shallow but broad knowledge pool about significant portions of the railroad, employment, and judicial systems

Cons

Almost daily, goals and directives from senior leadership change. I spent a significant portion of my day doing metawork, aka adjusting EOLs to reflect the new thinking, pestering attorneys for status reports unnecessarily, and running around like a chicken without a head for a management team who constantly made it feel like my job was in jeopardy.

Pros

No wage progression. Parking in the property for all employees. You don’t have to buy your own tools.

Cons

Runs like a jiffy lube. Not enough employees to cover all the work. The turn around rate is insane. More work for less money than every other rail road. No paid sick days. Only one week vacation your first year. No PTO for the first year.
