Pros

People are nice and friendly

Cons

Client failed to give me any work to do and gave all work to other consulting firms so I could not stay in the job. Job paid well below market for the skills and experience I offered. The government client expected that I would take notes on the telephone meetings and I do not hear well enough on the phone to take meeting notes. I asked those at the phone meeting to send me their notes and no one did. When I first started, I had to be escorted around the building because I did not have a building pass. Company should have had me work our of the reston, virginia office until I got my pass. During the first week I was there, the manager who hired me was fired and her director had to come in to replace her. The workstation the client put me in was being used as storage for office supplies. I spent the first week taking all those office supplies and put them into the office supply cabinets where they belonged. The two secretaries were very surprised to see all the office supplies stuffed into the cabinet where they belonged in the first place. The government agency had enough office supplies for the next ten years. The civilian employee I was suppose to support went on a one month vacation at a critical time and I was able to help with a three day group of presentations. When she returned, she failed to thank me and the company manager had to remind her that I contributed to the efforts. It was very said working there. Also, the company paid my state taxes to the wrong state and I had to file forms with that state to get a refund. I left after three months.

Pros

Work from home and lots of freedom

Cons

The team was very unbalanced, unorganized and was growing at a faster rate than the manager could keep up. In fairness, the manager was new and did not have any help onboarding
