In need of a culture shift

Pros

Some of the people who work their are genuinely good people and care about the people they work with. They worked hard for the good of the company and the people who make up the company.

Cons

The culture and vibe of the company has significantly declined in the last 5-8 years. It became apparent that in order to get ahead, you needed to step on people along the way or be an outside hire from another company. The bottom line takes precedence over treating employees well. Terrible project managers and toxic people are promoted because they are good at sales or another particular skill, while other genuinely good, hard working people are overlooked for decent raises and promotions. There is no value placed in staff management, talent management or employee engagement. Employees are viewed as a liability, not an asset.

Pros

There are some nice people who work here, try hard, and do good work.

Cons

No one follows a schedule, unsupportive teams, expected overtime, ignored personal boundaries, low pay, measly sick days, no upward mobility or chance for promotion, Hires people at higher titles than folks who’ve been here years (though new hires have half the experience), Massive favoritism, Tons of nepotism. No diversity. Random new rules regarding unused vacation. Wants to implement tech style vibe but can’t walk the talk- just admit you’re a random firm that is not interested in anything but the bottom line. Staff constantly sick from working their fingers to the bone. Did I mention very low pay?

Very poor company to work for

Pros

There are some great employees that work there. Pay and benefits are decent. Furthered my career experience.

Cons

Terrible communication at every level of the company. Poor training of new employees. Lack of support from the HR department. Unqualified people promoted to leadership roles. Lack of promotion from within. NOTE- In the 6 months that I worked for Anchor, 10 employees (including myself) gave notice and left. This all occurred in ONE relatively small office, and does not include departures across other offices within the company. Let that sink in for a moment. 10 employees (most of them having been there for at least 2 years) left one office in a matter of 6 months, That alone points to some serious management and leadership issues that were, and still are, unaddressed.

Unfortunately 2018 to 2019 resulted in a year of change with several transitions including a temporary HR team that had to quickly support the organization. This period of change resulted in some missed communications and some ambiguity as there were new roles created, staff moved into new roles and other departments experience organizational changes. However, all these changes and transition were important to set the stage for growth and advancement. As a result of these changes, the company has now established a new HR team, continues to work to provide development opportunities to staff and continues to review and establish best practices for coordination and management of work. At AQ we believe that is important to offer our employees a Total Rewards package that addresses financial, health, community and worklife needs. We strive to provide competitive salaries and conduct on-going market reviews for all the positions in the organization. Additionally, we review our benefits package beyond basic healthcare benefits to ensure that our employees have a broad selection of options that support their personal and professional lives. Ensuring that we preserve the great vibe and culture of the company and we support the growth and development of our staff are key priorities at AQ.
