Pros

Culture * Most managers I worked with seem to care for you as a person. When something came up they allowed you to deal with it. * Never had an issue with PTO being approved. * A lot of learning time that focused on gaining new skillsets. Office * The office is located right off the toll road and 495 in Tyson which allows easy access. There is also a shuttle to and from the metro station so a lot more accessible then when it was in Reston. * The onsite cafe was nice but the overall cost has gone up since 2019 when we first moved in. Appian use to cover 1-2 lunches a week but now it is just a discount if you use your badge or the app. * For engineering it is a very open floor plan where you get your standing desk, a decent monitor and laptop to work. Depending on what floor you may have a lot of noise to no noise. * Every other floor has a full kitchen with snacks and a soda/water machines. The other floors have a fridge and microwaves and that is about it.

Cons

* Senior leadership has been out of touch since 2023 and have done nothing to fix the culture after the first few rounds of layoffs. * There has been a lot of people leaving who have been at Appian for 7+ years for new jobs. A lot of it is due to the first point. * RTO mandate being pushed to 3-4-5 days in the office. It was never clear how many days * Bell curve performance reviews
