- Toxic management, if you are a minority, part of the LBGTQIA+ and not a majority or a perfect person. They will slowly start to keep a closer eye on you and utilize unfair, predatory tactics to get you to quit.
- The training is inconsistent. The management has no idea how to properly train its staff and is scatterbrain on trying to keep their inventory or monetary till balanced. They will set you up for failure.
- Fast pace and stressful. Because of the nature of the thrift store, you will be constantly dealing with shady people, vagrants and homeless, drug addicts and dumpster divers.
- Management does not support and will not support you if YOU the employee has suffered tragic lost of a pet/family member, car accident (except jury duty) then they will persistently goad you to come work the next day. They do not care about your well-being. Even if you've been through something horrific. They expect you to suck it up and come in to work the next day.
- There is no Bereavement, no Jury Duty time off.
- PTO accrual is slow. 40 hr for 4 hr of PTO. PTO? What's that? There is no work life balance.
- It's a very dirty and dangerous job.
- Management will change policies targeted towards you in an unfair practice of bias and racial profiling. If they change the policy on you, they will not communicate it to the rest of the team. Only you.
- HR is robotic and unresponsive. If you have a question, they will deflect it or misdirect the question. If not then they will continue to leave unsatisfactory answers.
- Management doesn't care about its employees hence the high turnover rate. It only cares about profits over the mental and physical well-being of their employees.
- Management is scatterbrained and will dump their load of assignments on their employees.
- The wages are extraordinarily low and raise is only a couple cents. There's no room for lateral growth. It's a dead end job.
