Specific culture with good work-life balance

Pros

Good work-life balance, especially compared to other startups. The culture is fast-paced and collaborative, with a lot of communication happening over Slack and in meetings. The company is transparent about its culture & operating style during the interview process and that guidance is accurate; day-to-day work generally reflects those expectations so I'd recommend anyone in the interview process takes that seriously. That said, I think it is very similar to other tech startup environments. There is a strong culture of feedback and iteration. Work is shared while in progress and input happens often. For people who are comfortable in startup environments, this can feel very natural and energizing. Overall, the company operates with good intent and shows a consistent effort to improve, adapt, and do better over time. Array invests in the people who are delivering results and continuing to try to improve while honoring and aligning to the "how we work" doc.

Cons

Meeting-heavy, and there are still a number of manual processes and reporting expectations that can feel repetitive. Roles and responsibilities can be loosely defined, which may be challenging for those who prefer clear scope and structure. This is not an environment where you work independently for long stretches and present only polished final outputs. Instead, there is an expectation to share work in progress and incorporate ongoing feedback. I see this as helping with iteration and improvement but it may be difficult for those who prefer more autonomy or less frequent input as they work. The company operates very much like a startup—priorities can shift, ambiguity is common, and things can feel messy at times. This may not be the right fit for individuals coming from or seeking highly structured, predictable environments. Array also does some things that are unique and that they feel work for them - if it's not something you can accept and work with, it could make it challenging to stay. Compensation is lower than some tech startups - would love to see this improve.

Great place to work

Pros

Fascinating problem space, tons of room for growth both vertically and horizontally. Great engineers and hard problems to solve, and a little bit of everything when it comes to languages, clouds, and tooling. Culture is exactly what I've been looking for, and I love the constant feedback from the top, making sure we work on the right things in the right order.

Cons

This culture isn't for everyone. It is direct and matter of fact without subliminal or implied messaging. Lots of ambiguity and rapid pace, almost as if we are a series of mini start-ups in a larger scale up. If you aren't used to constant feedback and adjustments, you will get crushed. Not a place to hide and collect a paycheck, low tolerance for blame, high indexing on ownership and rapid iteration.
