Pros

Most coworkers are very nice to work with. Nice life/work balance. Flexible HR policies.

Cons

Worked there for over 10 years. Poor training & employee growth; once you hit a certain level you reach a "glass ceiling" depending on who you know and whose shoulders you're rubbing, which creates a back-stabbing culture among coworkers with the same goals. You do an adequate job and you get rewarded, you do a good/great job, and you get taxed with more work/responsibility and no promotion.

Pros

The location was nice and the benefits were decent.

Cons

The training was not sufficient for the job, they promise support upon release to the floor. Support from team leaders is almost non-existent. My team was actually in the same training class as me and retained less information. The expectations of the clients are not reasonable for the type of calls that come in.

Pros

There is a good sense of teamwork among employees, even between different departments. The job itself not very difficult and there are no weekends. The 401k match and ESPP benefits are reasonable. PTO is as follows, 14 days plus 2 floating holidays at the start. 5 additional unpaid time off days available. PTO then jumps to 17 days at 3 years and 19 days at 5 years. Medical benefits are your standard high deductible HSA plans.

Cons

Inconsistent directive from supervisors and the management immediately above them. There are no established policies and procedures for claim handling. Everything is done on "a case by case basis". This is a euphemism for the claim will be handled according to whichever way the wind is blowing that day. There is very limited opportunity for advancement. The St Pete office is very small and only a very small number are able to move on to different positions. Job opportunities are not posted so employees can competitively apply for them. Instead someone is simply hooked up with a new position or advancement based on personal relationships instead of merit based. The amount of new business taken on is significant but staff size has not grown to match. The claims department has not grown in size in 3 years. Management has sold part of the business and taken on other new business that is more profitable. This gives the obvious appearance that management is trying to keep the department at the same staff size. Due to this there is basically nowhere to go. There is no established training protocol for new employees. Adjusters are hired one at a time and the training that they receive varies wildly. Throughout the year you are not shown any of you merit based results like quality or productivity. Instead management will go over them with you during your year end review. During mid year self review this data is not provided to employees, instead you have to request it.
