Pros

Untracked PTO The Finance team is an amazing function to support as a recruiter. They are responsive, supportive, and typically have the same sense of urgency. They were easy to build relationships with and an absolute joy to work with. I wish I could've reported directly to them.

Cons

Leadership on the corporate recruiting team is terrible to stay it nicely. I was painted a picture that the role would have a lot of autonomy. I come from a mix of corporate and agency recruiting background, so I hit the ground running. I never received any negative feedback from my business partners in the Finance department. This is where the leadership issues come in. Micromanaging is an understatement for how leadership manages this team. During hour long, weekly, one-on-one meetings, you are required to go through your calendar day by day and explain what you are doing. If you have a new idea on how something should be done, don't count on your opinion being valued- process improvement is not something that leadership is interested in. There is high turnover on the team due to the hostile work environment of leadership by fear. I voiced this to HR over and over, but nothing was done. I chose to leave the company, but my advice is to avoid the corporate recruiting team. If you want to recruit at Asurion, take a position with the supply chain, operations, or technology. They have amazing leaders who support their teams and value their hard work and input.

Pros

Get to work in a pimped out Best Buy building, full of mostly vacant desks with semi-professional corporate propaganda strewn about the cubicles haphazardly.

Cons

It's one giant call center where nobody really seems to know what they're doing, because the training is done by people desperate to provide decent content, with not many sources. Verizon has nothing but old walk-throughs for every troubleshooting call. And yes, you will have to use their old walk-throughs on the floor. This is a boiler-room call center job. Despite poor training and troubleshooting materials, the reps are held to exacting standards by the "client," Verizon, a company with such a bad work environment everyone went on strike recently. Can't wait to hear people defend them. Don't expect to be treated better than the Verizon tech support people you're there to replace, because you work for an even worse company, Asurion. As in the company that charges everyone at least $150 to replace the phone they've been paying each month to insure. As in the company that sends out the recycled, Chinese-part refurbished cell phones that the last poor schmuck mailed in to get their replacement. As in the people you're going to mail in your phone to if you have Asurion for your cell phone insurance. Which you do, like everyone does. Asurion does not care how your job satisfaction is, any more than they care how satisfied you are with your phone insurance. They know in Tennessee there's an employer-friendly system of low wages, poor benefits, and no government watching out for the little guy. People aren't happy with the crappy job they have here, so they'll sometimes fall for someplace like Asurion with its semi-professional appearance and just-good-enough pay. Research this company first. They are not above having people come on here to give them good reviews. It's just one of the ways they keep the revolving door moving. Even with my obvious disdain for this company I have this bit of unbiased evidence of what type of employer they are: attrition rates are outrageous. Of the 18 people that started training with me, only five or six were still there when I quit. Of the 8 people that were on my team when I got out of training and on the floor, only two others were left when I got out of there. My boss was an egomaniac, and the higher-ups didn't care, because Asurion is managed by the inept.

Pros

I don't see many pros at Asurion anymore.

Cons

A terrible way to lead, If you make a mistake in your career, you will be held accountable for it the entire life.No advancement opportunities. The job is very stressful and leadership don't provide any recognition for the supervisors work. You handle your team and also for your none performer peers. The bonuses are ridiculous, your employees made more money than you as a Supervisor with all the responsibility and the training and meetings we have to go through.
