Pros

Even year round employees get the equivalent to 8 weeks off a year between the Holidays, state and local sick time, vacation and personal leave.

Cons

Pay is based on a schedule and there is no possibility of a merit raise. All raises are given District wide, making it so small it barely makes a difference. Only other way to make more money is to move to another job with a higher level on the pay scale.

Pros

Being able to teach students things I wished I was taught when I was in school.

Cons

Some teachers need to be specific with their instructions of what they want the students to learn while they are away. A lot of times, it is just busy work.

Pros

Stable work environment. Compared to Working in corporate the chance of ekng downsize is very small. The only jobs you have to keep an eye on are the grant funded positions. Almo Holidays

Cons

Pay does not scale well for continued education (i.e. a person who enters Aisd with a bachelors does not receives y significant pay grade chance if he or she earns a masters degree). No tuition reimbursement.
