Pros
ALP is great if you want to be a behavior technician; it is the most supported position in the company at the sacrifice of all the other positions. They hire with minimal experience, truly an entry level position, and provide paid training. It's good if you want to get started in the field of ABA and gain experience, and then move onto another company when you want to advance your career.
Cons
Any other position besides behavior technician (BT) is terrible as all of the support goes to retaining and hiring BTs. The opportunity for career advancement in any position is so small it's non-existent, but if you do happen to get one, you quickly become overburdened. Burnout is VERY common for all staff because of the amount of responsibilities that continuously change and increase. ALP promotes work-life balance because they don't require responses after office hours, but most are so exhausted after work (because it's already a mentally draining field) that they can barely enjoy life after work as it is. The knowledge base required for most positions is huge and largely underestimated, especially when you consider the various platforms, departments, and policies that an employee needs to be aware of to be successful in their position. After 3 years, I worked with over 40 different ALP regions, and although they are trying to standardize processes, experiences are still highly subjective to the staff in a region. Good experiences with staff are highly dependent on working with someone who actually cares and tries to be kind. It's difficult to be compassionate when you're exhausted and overworked though. ALP is going through a lot of change right now, but only because things got so bad. A lot of the current changes should have been made a long time ago, but they refused to accept feedback when employees complained because it wasn't a priority at the time. Even now, the changes are implemented before everything is ready, and it leaves employees scrabbling to understand new policies with little to no support or resources. Most positions also have pay caps so it is very difficult to get raises and they do not adjust for inflation or increase of responsibilities.
