Thank you for taking the time to visit our page and leave a review. We appreciate you highlighting our training and the impactful work you provide as a Behavior Technician. As you pointed out, we do try our best to offer both part-time and full-time scheduling options to our employees. Communication is a key factor in ensuring our clients are getting quality care. If you feel the communication between you and your Supervisor is not where it should be after discussing it with them, we would encourage you to contact your regional Clinical Director to help provide additional support. Or if you’d prefer, feel free to email us at reviews@autismlearningpartners.com and we’d be happy to assist. Thank you again for your commitment to supporting and improving the lives of our families!

Pros

-Some people are nice. They earnestly believe they're doing a good thing. -Internal applications encryption is solid.

Cons

-Terrible pay. Whatever they post on Linkedin looks good at first until you realize you're only going to be working 10 hours a week at maximum in your first year. Offset with very weak stipends for technology and transportation. -Staff is entirely incompetent and actually harmful. Scheduling, recruiters, supervisors, even individuals on the same case would never be on the same page with one another. Behavior therapists are NOT medically licensed, this company is hiring people with 0 qualifications to work in this field beyond "I had an autistic son so how hard can this be?", given 2 weeks worth of training on ONLY Aba, with no basis in child psychology, and then sent to work with families The people with actual degrees in this field are off sitting in offices all day. -Though I said some people are nice, this cannot be said of everyone who works there. People would talk condescendingly to me whenever I asked innocuous questions, and I got a feeling after some time that I was not welcome. It is a very lonely job, regardless of what the newsletters would have you believe. -ABA is a harmful practice created by Ivar Lovaas, who was heavily involved in the early homosexual conversion therapy movement and did not consider autistic children to even be human. It uses systems of punishment and reinforcement in order to make your child "normal" by constructing a personality from the ground up around what is considered acceptable traits, and can lead to perpetuated abuse by therapists and guardians. -Autistic people are people. Autism is not a disease that needs to be cured.

Dear reviewer and team member, We understand that it takes courage and conviction to be able to share concerns, and we appreciate and earnestly consider the concerns you have raised. Our leadership team is available to discuss these topics in detail (and we work to share with our teams on these topics, via townhalls, newsletters, and monthly professional development events). For those who may be reading this review, we feel there are a few crucial points to clarify. Regarding the experience level of behavior technicians, the level of experience and training required to directly administer this beneficial service is set by the industry governing board and the insurance companies/school districts that provide our funding; the current requirements encompass an expansive task list of training topics, and additionally ALP provides training sessions with technician’s clients in order to deliver practical, competency-based training beyond what is required from the certification board. Regarding the founding of ABA, it is a common misconception that Ivar Lovaas founded ABA; in fact, Applied Behavior Analysis is considered to be founded by BF Skinner, with applications defined by Baer, Wolf, and Risley. Simply put, ABA is a scientific approach to improving environments so that everyone can thrive in ways that matter to them personally. While Lovaas was the first to demonstrate that autistic* children (*using language largely preferred by the autistic community) could attend public school and have a less restricted lifestyle rather than be confined to a lifetime of (often abusive) institutional settings, his early ABA-based work included harmful techniques that are not at all a part of contemporary ABA. To your last point, ALP actively collaborates with neurodiverse experts, self-advocates, and content creators to create trainings and protocols that are compassionate, assent-based, and neurodiversity affirming, and we are working to provide collaborative, client-centered care for all we serve. We are sorry you had a poor experience, and we appreciate your feedback.
