Pros

Compared to competitors AZ is a good company to work for except in Memphis. If you negotiate well enough during the hiring process you will be well paid, company benefits are above average, AZ did not cut 401k match when many other companies did and the company is strong financially so you do not need to worry about having a job from day to day. Working conditions vary from store to store and depend mostly on how well you choose to get along with middle management.

Cons

Being the corporate headquarters, everything here is over analyzed and over-reacted to. The entire region is ran by the HR manager who can make life very miserable for you if she does not like you for any reason. I really enjoy my job and like would not have left the company except for the fact that one mean-spirited person can cause hardworking and well-intended people so much grief any time she chooses. Like several others that I know, she completely ruined my job and made my time at AutoZone miserable.

Pros

Some of the good reasons to work at AutoZone is just being able to have a job during these difficult times. It is a job that always keeps you on your feet. No day is ever the same and the experiences and stories and knowledge one gains is at times just priceless. If you have a great team around you it is a great place to work and that makes the workplace a fun place.

Cons

There are as with all jobs downsides. Some of which is just do to the nature of the business you are in, Retail. It is a numbers game. If you are doing well as a team you hear about it over and over again and honestly, haven't noticed any real help from others outside the store you actually work in that give help. Pay could be better but I think that is so in any career one engages in. The hours are long and they hate overtime. Of course they strive to push you to excellence in this category but how can you go the extra mile and help your team out when it requires you getting overtime and then you get in trouble. Kind of a lose lose situation. You want the best customer service on the market and when one tries to help execute that goal, you get in trouble for the overtime.
