Pros

There are not many good reasons to work here. If you like auto parts and high pressure sales environments, then this is the place for you. Employees do receive a discount, and you will be paid for the time you work.

Cons

There is no upper managerial support towards employees. Managers at the store level are not empowered to make changes or enforce discipline. The focus here is on micro management from the district level. Expect to be given unrealistic sales goals and to see people who have no managerial experience or ability become your peers or supervisors. Promotions are given on a whim and are put into effect by district managers who will never actually witness your performance first hand.

Pros

Great bonus - mine was about 10% of my annual salary - and decent raises - mine was around 4%. Nice location if you like downtown Memphis. Parking is in their own garage. It's available 24x7x365. And it's monitored around the clock by their security people.

Cons

All Programmers/Architects mostly do business analysis work. If you like endless meetings and paperwork you'll love this job. They outsource all their developement work. Senior management believes programmers have better things to do than program. All Programmers/Archiects are expected to take week-log call at least 4 times a year for no extra pay - and it's mostly non-programming issues, it all types of issues ("why didn't the mainframe files get to 17 of the store servers? Why is the application in the store frozen? Why won't it let this customer return this battery? Why won't my cash register work?"). They make you wear silly uniforms - black pants and shoes and socks and belt, grey shirt - every Monday and every time they have a "special" day. And they have all sorts of special pins that have to be worn on the collars just so. No casual days. They make you spell out the word autozone by making shapes with your body. I KID YOU NOT. You have to wait 3 months before you got medical and dental benefits - real cheap. You had to wait one full year before you could use their 401K plan - real cheap. Even though I was full-time I always felt like I was in a sweatshop. Working there made me feel tacky.

Pros

Just a place to work. I would't like to say that is a healthy environment ;but at least is a salary

Cons

Work for Auto Zone is like working for a penitenciary. call in sick is not part of your benefits. work a significant amount of hours.nobody want to work for a low salary and a lot of pressure.Your days off,you can probably receive from ten to twenty phone calls,to see if you are available to work because somebody call in sick.If you call in sick, you get a point if you get ten points, you can get fired. isn't this a nice place to work?. Auto Zone have two cashier registers and 6 stations that work as a parts counter and register wich can only take credit cards , Nice!!!!!!! but the nicest part is that there is always two employees to serve the public, wich walk away when they don't find a quick help
