Pros
Strong compensation plans and benefits, and if you can stick around employment at Autodesk provides a good opportunity to put some money in the bank. There are great people who work there and the culture, while not what it was, remains very strong. The products are innovative and the company is attempting to live closer to the bleeding edge. Life/work balance is greatly aided by the annual week of rest (Xmas to New Years) along with a 6-week paid sabbatical every 4 years.
Cons
The instability is difficult to cope with over time. Although the current changes are attempting to make the revenue stream more predictable, Autodesk remains a bit of a canary in a coalmine when it comes to economic upturns and downturns. You can expect massive layoffs every 2-3 years, followed by periods of growth.
