Pros

Not too many come to mind, work place was close to home and there were a few good genuine people to work with. Good PTO once you accumulated it. It can be a good learning experience on what "Not To Do" in your professional working life and did offer some takeaways. Even bad experiences can be good/positive learning ones!

Cons

Where to start....??? Senior management is very arrogant and self absorbed, mainly interested in bus driving and trying to take the next management step. Very few ever stepped up and took blame, they were either driving that bus or pointing the finger as to who threw the paper ball (made the mistake). Had a few "coaching" moments, only to see an e-mail chain hours or a few days later as to where/when you got berated by the same person to management in the electronic cloak of communication. This happened a bit often or more than once. Senior team doesn't want to listen to suggestions or direction even when they are new to certain markets and pricing strategies. Bonus structure was nice thought, however, it became increasingly difficult to hit with little consideration of adjustment when significant volume was moved or lost at the plant level. It seemed as if they weren't all that willing to give the bonuses unless it was achieved exactly to "their" terms. The corporation ran off significant volume which crashed margins and missed targets, but decided to not give employees an annual raise. Not the best motivation tool, when some sites worked very hard to push plastic out the door with a lot of OT hours. Pay is low for hourly and with the doubling of benefits blamed solely on Obamacare, wait can't say that, only the CEO can... it really hurts their take home. You would think a $4B corporation could give a little lower cost of insurance to their folks and not blame the rising costs all on the AHCA/Obamacare, along with a 2-3% annual raise! Their HR dept. is highly lacking in ethics, confidentiality or knowing what do and how to handle any significant event, it's frightening! There is no corp. policy book so if falls on the site when it's not handled correctly, even though the site has probably not had a thorough review by "Corp HR" of their policies in 15 yrs. or ever and is usually directed by HR on actions. It's a nice side step defensive style tactic and HR is never accountable for issues. Get in good with them and give them presents, you'll be fine! Very political, even the bosses tell you, "It's Political", you have to play the game! If you don't like politics or can't step to the music, don't bother, it's a treacherous company the higher you go up. It's a challenge, no doubt! But it's not always a level playing field and you can be misguided by information being withheld or told to do stuff directly, then not backed by your boss to higher ups. Get things in writing, is what another post said, that's very true! However, even when you get things in writing, it may change, so make copies and maybe some witnesses! Senior managers tend to know how to review people better than their direct supervisors and alter reviews as they see fit or hold a grudge against a person for a single issue and downgrade. Or if a single goal didn't get achieved, that's a Brown downgrade. Not real sure what they look at for business/product decisions, I strongly believe that feelings and what they think about the site/managers/people overall is how they make the decisions, it sure can't be the actual numbers!! So, I would say ethics, might be a small issue with some of these prior examples.

Pros

Working for PolyOne, you will interact with some of the most intelligent, dynamic, hard-working individuals you will ever meet. Your own level-of- self will rise as you become one of the fold. Commercial sales training is one of the best available for the chemical marketplace.

Cons

Commercial sales is numbers driven. You need to hit metrics, set by management of which you have no contribution to define. You will be driven to travel 80 percent of the time, 10-12 hour days, and working 1/2 day on Sunday to prepare for the following week. It becomes your life.
