Pros

There is a lot of opportunity to grow at this company, especially for reporters and editors that are new in the industry. Ideas are encouraged from everyone since Axios itself is still pretty new. There are plenty of chances to go above and beyond and to stand out. Also, it's fairly easy to collaborate with other reporters and editors on larger projects if you can make the time.

Cons

A start-up atmosphere is not for everyone, and it's okay to be honest about that. You generally have to push yourself to meet your own goals and there is less structure than a traditional newsroom. However, Axios still has enough traditional newsroom elements going on that it's not a total fish-out-of-water environment if this would be your first start-up.

Pros

- Jim, Roy and Mike - and the entire exec team - are brilliant, kind, candid, ambitious and resourceful. - There is a “no BS” attitude that pervades the place and an unparalleled level of access to senior management. Good ideas truly rise to the top. - For people with genuine talent, upward mobility is incredible. Risk-taking is encouraged. - The mission is authentic across all facets of the organization. It’s inspiring to be part of a company that genuinely cares about delivering true value to readers and clients.

Cons

- Rapid growth has created some “build as you fly it” pain points. Hiring doesn’t always keep pace with workload. - Expect to love your job, but also expect to commit to it fully. We are output oriented, so don’t expect to punch a time sheet. On the flip side, efficiency is rewarded.

Pros

The most well organized startup I've worked at. From the start, the HR department was very responsive during the interview process and wanted to work with me when scheduling calls and in-person interviews. Once starting at Axios everyone, especially my direct boss was willing to take the time and effort to teach me everything I needed to know to succeed in my new position. Overall, you learn so much by being surrounded by such intelligent well-rounded people here.

Cons

Usual startup growing pains -- but the growing pains can be really exciting for whats to come.
