      Pros

      Management is open and honest; very transparent about the business challenges, goals and strategies; everyone works together as a team; very few, if any, prima donnas on staff (rare for a media company). Communication is extraordinary. Hiring process is thorough, with an emphasis on cultural fit, which only enhances the teamwork.

      Cons

      We work hard at Axios; the roll-up-our-sleeves culture means we often put in extra hours. The pay and benefits are good, not great (no 401K match, for ex), but stock options are a potential offset.

      Pros

      Leadership (from the founders on down) has a person-first approach to engaging staff. Although we take our work very seriously and much is expected, we are given the utmost respect and treated as human beings with opinions, feelings, and lives outside of Axios. In the midst of this pandemic, Jim VandeHei has been SUPER communicative and transparent about decisions made and future plans for the company that have a goal of protecting us all. He is truly a war-time CEO who leads with grace and calm in the midst of chaos, which gives me hope and eases my anxiety during this time.

      Cons

      Benefits aren't bad, they could be more robust but for a 3-year-old company I'd say we're doing pretty good there and I think our benefits will evolve as we grow.
