Pros

9/80 Work Schedule Good benefit package and 401k Company paid Christmas party and summer picnic Flexible work schedules Accommodating to people with handicaps

Cons

Deteriorating working conditions, poor morale, an "I don't care" attitude, loss of holidays, reduction in benefits Lack of "new" work Management not dealing with poor or non performers Not engineering solutions Favoritism between management and some employees No room for growth Started looking for new work too late in the game Need to take RISKs and explore new market directions

Pros

9/80 work schedule to get every other Friday off, but you will get so burned out that you wish you would have done 5/40 instead.

Cons

Unprofessionalism with supervisors, lack of growth, lack of guidance/support/training, being very unwelcoming for new team members through dismissive avoidance, will be promised a promotion then never granted it, I can go on a very long list of the cons here.

Pros

- Smart engineers at the lower levels - Hard to get fired - Cool work

Cons

- 3:1+ manager to employee ratio - Always hiring managers, always running out of money - Managers always coming up with ethically "creative" ideas - unpaid overtime, unpaid training, discouraging sharing salaries - Waste, fraud, abuse of govt funds - Need to leave or show up with another offer if you want to be promoted at a reasonable rate - Nasty cockroach infested workplace Best thing you can do is get a management job where you have meetings on your calendar all day and ride that out until you retire. If you are a low level engineer you will realize over time that this business exists to take the most govt money and deliver the least quality product in the slowest amount of time to get the next installment. Management will ignore or punish efforts to do more than the bare minimum.
