Pros

Autonomy, strong incentive package, pension

Cons

Present themselves as a "customer-centric" organization. Over time, they have become the next big bank to sacrifice reputation for size. As they continue to grow, the continue to lose the foundation that built them. Product pushing and sales demands have now become the norm all while continuing to convince employees and clients we do what is best for the client

Pros

The benefits are nice. The biggest perk being job security. In fact, most people have been there for 20+ years. Salaries are less than competitive but low inflation in immediate area makes it manageable.

Cons

The incentive was just taken away, I imagine the pension will be gone in a few years as well. Technologically incompetent, way behind their competitors. Company buys growth as opposed to fomenting it organically. Shareholders are number one priority.

Pros

BB&T is a solid company that is proud of being conservative. It never had major trouble in the housing crisis, etc. So you don't have to worry about the company being bought out or going out of business. They also give out bonuses when you are at or above certain levels. These could be quite nice. It was not a high pressure environment. Deadlines were usually movable if you had a good enough reason, i.e. someone to blame outside your group. If I could have changed to a different team, I might still be there.

Cons

Like most places, happiness is determined by your immediate manager and a couple levels above. I was very happy with one, okay with another and the third is why I left the company. After seeing some of the technology up close, I vowed that if I ever won the lottery this would not be my bank of choice.
