Pros

The jobs itself is not too challenging and the pay is decent around 60000 to 70000 a year if you can hold and don’t get furloughed.

Cons

Work schedule sucks you only get two days off a month and the management does not care about you at all and the upper management only sees you as a name and number.24 -7 365 days a year schedule and you can bet you are working every holiday because if you take off on a holiday or have an emergency at home you will be penalized and ultimately terminated after this happens twice. Was an ok job when I hired in 5 years ago when we had 7 days off a month but now it’s just a miserable place with moral always down like no other place I have ever seen. The employees I’ve talked to about 50 to 60 percent are seeking employment elsewhere and many with 15 to 20 years of seniority. I would not recommend working for this company especially if you have loved ones at home.

Pros

Railroad retirement is the only pro at this point.

Cons

Wage steeling thieves! They only care about profits for the shareholders. $5.8 billion in profit in 2021. Now they want to take away employees time at home. through lies and misinformation. They are reducing our time off from 7 days a month to less than 2 days. We are on call 24/7/365 nights, weekends, holidays without even a thanks. They are deliberately creating a man power shortage to try and force single person train crews. Something by law they have negotiate with labor for. They recently tried to file an injunction with federal court to force it. What they cant negotiate they take by force. With a manpower shortage they created by horrible working conditions they will lobby congress for a 1 man train crew. Making working conditions even more unsafe than they are now. Combine that with 3 mile and soon 5 mile long trains community's are not safe. All for the shareholder profits.

Pros

I can’t think of one.

Cons

Everything you will ever do, anybody you will meet, and every single meeting and email... Total and complete waste of your career.
