Pros

In my time here (just under a year), no one has left this company (very few have left over the company's 12 year history), and it's very easy to see why. The benefits here are unparalleled. They really take care of employees and their families. They are flexible, understanding, and truly care about the well being of their employees. All the while, it is a laid back atmospher in which people are able to thrive because of the lack of pressure from the top and extremely transparent communication from the Founders. In fact, every week, we get an update from our CEO over a catered lunch. Truly a wonderful place to work.

Cons

Honestly, it took me a while to adjust to the pace here. I am typically used to a fast-paced, aggresive, and somewhat-chaotic atmostphere. Here at Backblaze, things move a bit slower...which can be a great thing because they are methodic and really weigh out the options they have when making a critical decision. It took me a while to adjust, but I am thankful that they do move at a slower, more thoughtful pace.

Pros

* Brilliant & friendly colleagues * Great benefits * Breakfast, Lunch twice a week + wide variety of snacks * Growing business * Very much a needed business: affordable backup made easy & object storage made affordable * Close to San Mateo Caltrain (check a map for your version of close) * Office has character. * Unlimited PTO -- can be convenient

Cons

* Open office means it can be noisy * San Mateo is equally inaccessible from San Jose, San Francisco, & the East Bay Area. Commuting is unpleasant. *It's either inconvenient Caltrain, or the parking lot of 101, or the parking lot of 280. * Office has character. * Unlimited PTO -- can be hard to take (although my management has NEVER had an issue with the time taken)
