Pros

Great pay. I worked as a greeter/hostess, but I wasn't tipped out, and still made decent money. Good hours. It was fairly simple to get more hours if I needed them and get shifts picked up by my coworkers and/or trade shifts. Great people. My coworkers were fun and really nice. I always had a god time with them. They're the only part I really miss about this job. Also my 50% discount on meals. The FOOOOOD. The food is excellent. I highly recommend the buttermilk chicken sandwich. My favorite. There are a lot of opportunities for growth. Its easy to move up in the company, OR move down if you need a break. If you're committed to this company they will be to you.

Cons

There was always a ton of drama going on within the staff. It can really be like high school. You have to learn how to stay above it. Working with thieves. You have to stay vigilant. People WILL take your stuff, people WILL take your money. Management was always adding responsibilities for our position that we weren't hired for and we weren't being compensated for. There was no accountability for employees who abused the call out system. Coworkers who were vocal about not wanting to close would simply call out each and every time they were scheduled to close, forcing someone else to have to stay for them. Management did nothing. This is also another failing of management: Scheduling. How hard is it to stick to scheduling people the hours and days they said they can work? They would schedule us as if they hadn't even seen our availability. Also, they seemed completely clueless to the concept of having on-call employees. If an employee says they have open availability, they should be asked if they'd be interested in working "on-call". We had enough employees that if someone suddenly called out, someone else could be called and asked to replace them. Managers don't listen/pay attention to employees (unless they're looking to watch if you screw up...), or they purposefully ignore you. You have to be a squeaky wheel to get what you want, whether that be your discount on the meal you just ordered, or a promotion to the next level.

Management Issues

Pros

Most of the co-workers were really nice and down-to-earth. I was able to successfully work according to my availability being a student, and the job is lenient with that. There is always one decent manager working there that is able to work with you as a student, as well as to try to help you to improve with your performance and give decent constructive criticism without making you feel like you failed.

Cons

There is usually only one good manager out of the four of them. Out of the years I've worked there, I've never received a review or been considered for a pay increase. The rules change with the wind and most times, you are not notified when they are. You are left to experience the change of rules when dealing with a certain situation. Sometimes when you give availability, the manager will stray outside of it and "accidentally" schedule you outside of your availability, leaving you to find someone to take the shift. A few of the managers leave you feeling as though you didn't do your job right, yet will not provide you with feedback pertaining to what you are doing wrong. You HAVE to stay on top of things yourself, because if it is not important or priority to them, they'll disregard whatever the issue is.

Pros

Get to work in a very culturally diverse environment.

Cons

The managers need to show employees that they are valued members to the company.
