Pros

Great projects, huge opportunity for learning curve in various sectors. They have some true professionals whom you can learn from along the way. Great for graduates as they are treated differently.

Cons

Promises not upheld. Staff not replaced, additional work, toxic environment, aggressive behaviour was common with shouting and things being thrown even... in large meetings. Witnessed a huge turnover of staff, one week 5 would start then the second week 3 or 4 of them will have left. It was regular occurrence for many I spoke to that they would be promised things that never happened. Promotions, training, moving to other projects. Even when signed off, emailed verifications etc, it would just get swept under the carpet. HR were wild when one team member complained. Note, 5 previous colleagues have all now told me that upon leaving BB sent claims for over pay and holiday pay to them. Myself included... literally debt collector letters turning up! What a tactic...

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience with us was a disappointing one. We take concerns about workplace behaviour, workload and employee treatment very seriously. We do not recognise some of the experiences described here as reflective of how we expect our teams to work together, but we acknowledge that perceptions of culture and management can vary, and we're always reviewing how we communicate, support and manage our people. We encourage any current or former employees who have concerns about conduct, workload or processes to raise them directly with us so they can be properly reviewed. Where issues are identified, we aim to address them through clear processes and appropriate action. In relation to pay and holiday balances, these are calculated in line with contractual terms and statutory requirements. We understand these matters can sometimes be upsetting, and we encourage anyone with questions or concerns to contact our HR team directly so they can be discussed and clarified. We remain committed to improving our workplace, supporting our employees’ development, and ensuring our processes are clear, fair and transparent. Please feel free to reach out to hrss@balfourbeatty.com to discuss these concerns further.

Pros

Invest in their people. Lots of opportunities for people new to industry or after a change to develop their knowledge and skills both transferrable and specialist courses available. Great for Early Careers

Cons

It’s a big company so experience of development can vary depending on where you are.
