Pros

Local leadership is smart and capable when global allows them to do things. Most of the people who haven't managed to leave yet are pretty great.

Cons

The global organization is destroying the company. People are fleeing left and right. Pay is way below average and management constantly touts "soft benefits" which no longer exist. The pasta market is declining and the Global organization is hamstringing the US from succeeding. Negotiate for higher comp vs Bonus. The new Bonus structure makes it near impossible to pay out given the current market. If you live on the North Side and need a job it could be worse. Ask during the interview process if your role reports to global or local. If global, I cannot recommend enough to not join. If you need a job and join, just be prepared for things to slowly get worse. If the job is local things aren't that bad. Be prepared for 3 days in office starting in 2026. I expect that to increase to 4-5 in the coming years too since the Barilla Family wants butts in chairs.

Pros

Decent work life balance They try to invest in employees wellbeing but lately it is been all falling apart. They try to invest in DE&I but it is more for the appearance, at least on the Canadian side.

Cons

Fake promises, poor business performance, bad management from leadership team, a big round of layoffs for a small food company in Canada. Leadership team is so disconnected from the rest of the team. It is like living in different worlds. No clear communication, connection with employees. Some managers are bullies and toxic and no one is doing anything about it, although employees complain about it. Limited career opportunities on the Canadian side, absence of promotion from within and more focused on recruiting external.
