Pros

Voluntary office hours (remote work) throughout the pandemic The people at Bentley are what keeps butts in the seats so to speak. Fellow colleague bonds are what keeps people with the company a little bit longer My direct manager is awesome and inspires me to do better and always encourages me even when I think I can’t do something. Always willing to help everyone regardless of whether or not the person seeking help is on our team or not. (One of the bright spots at Bentley).

Cons

Bentley continues to have inequality amongst its workers of different departments. Sales, while still probably underpaid to an extent, is paid significantly better than back office workers. Outside of the cost of living increases, there’s been no sort of raises for the last number of years (For anyone I know). There was a reduction of salary during the pandemic with the claim that it was to protect jobs. Funny enough, our business flourished mightily during the pandemic and yet that money wasn’t given back to anyone. But yet, not everyone was held to that standard. Raises/salary really are the biggest joke at Bentley. C-level executives have made insane amounts of money with going public while the little guys continue to get 💩on. While some reviews have spoken of middle management issues, I’ve found that to be one that possesses a glimmer of hope. Amongst my department there are two very good managers. Unfortunately for them, motivating people and providing immediate feedback and guidance seems to come at a cost. “No good deed goes unpunished” is a phrase that constantly comes to mind. If by some miracle there was ever a decision to provide colleagues with appropriate salary via proper bench-marking, morale within operations would do a complete 180. At the end of the day, I think a significant issue amongst 90% of reviews is that compensation is way lower than the industry averages. People stay because they are comfortable and the people you work with really are great people. Often times promotions result in little (if any) salary increase. You are better off leaving Bentley to get an increase than to expect it by doing your job better than expected (exceeding quota).

Pros

Flexibility with schedule. Work with really great peers.

Cons

Upper management is too busy in the weeds to actually manage people. Upper management and execs tend to be more on the old school side of things. Burnout is rampant due to not having enough resources (head count) to complete the mounting piles of work. Management doesn't seem to have interest in advancing careers of employees.

Good software for AEC professionals.

Cons

Terrible comp plan. They have no idea how to keep good reps motivated.
