Pros

You're your own boss, you control how much you want to make and if you want a raise, you just have to go out and sell more ads. It's a great proven system that works, as long as you stick to it that is. You're a 1099 employee, which some people see as a bad thing, educate yourself on taxes, 1099 means you're an Independent Contractor......you own your own business...therefore most of your expenses are tax deductible at the end of the year. The calls are great, and as long as you pay attention, you can get a lot out of it. And it's nice to hear how difficult it was for some people to make then how easy it is for some, gives that balance of well I can do this, and not well everyone went to print in 2 months and here I'm at 2 months and I'm barely halfway to base. Managers are great, Division Manager answers any and all questions you can think of. It still amazes me to that the Regional Manager is as hands on as he is, even to just send a text to say, hey how are things going, never had any managers quite like these. Not to mention the corporate staff, hey, when you got a blizzard going in your home and your still make yourself available to answer question from us hundreds of miles from....now that's AMAZING. CEO is great too, not like most where he'll just bark out orders and sit behind his desk...nope, everyday he's on the conference calls with you, and he truly does have an open door policy, any of your uppers have an open door policy, as long as their not busy that is.

Cons

I'll admit, it was a little scary at first, and it's hard sometimes to find the motivation to make calls just to rejected. You have to make sure that you have enough money to live on for a few months or have a spouse that works too. Print is the dream, go to print then start dreaming of the money you can make.

Pros

I work here but im very disgruntled at the moment. I have too much invested to leave now, you are your own boss. freedom to work or not. lots of motivation if your cell bill can handle it.

Cons

This company boasts large earnings and job freedom BUT what they don't tell you is you are ON YOUR OWN. You pay your own gas, phone, internet......you make NOTHING, UNTIL you reach a high "going to publication $$$$ amount. Once you reach this amount, you then continue to work and only THEN do you start making money. You can work for FREE for months and months possibly even a year or more before hitting this number to be published and pay for publication costs, only then do you start making money, ad by ad....very small amounts at first, until you sell enough ad revenue to feed yourself. Beware of this company. It took me a full year to reach publication, and now I am at the beginning working trying to find advertisers in a small area TRYING to make a tiny living. They tell you the highest success stories to get you onboard, not the thousands that have NOT made it and wasted hundreds trying.

We hope this Publisher reaches out for support to his/her Division Manager for guidance and assistance. Even the President or our CEO would take his/her call to provide support. Regarding the claim he/she made that we don't tell people about the expenses he/she mentioned and that pay comes after a period of time, those are false claims. We tell all candidates that they are responsible for the expenses listed in the review above and that it takes months before they earn income. Missing this detail is like not being aware that a dinner invitation would involve eating. In fact, we share that fact in the initial contact via video, then in a one on one interview. Then, it must be understood and acknowledged in order to work with us. It is expressed as a matter of practical application during training. We share the stories of struggle MORE frequently than we do the success stories because the success of our people is so apparent that we feel the need to encourage those people who are falling behind compared to their more successful counterparts. To demonstrate our sincerity, if you are a candidate, please re-read the points about managing your expenses and income coming over time. This is a part of the role. It is worth it to most people who start with us because the income and freedom are so robust. We assume that missing these important facts is the reason for the delayed success for this candidate. Most of our Publishers are in print, get there in a few months. It is clear he/she does not participate in our training programs and support/training calls. It would be impossible to be actively learning and miss these points. We encourage greater participation in order to find success.

Pros

It is hard for me not to write an entire book on how much I love this company and the people within it. The culture of Best Version Media is by far the best I have ever experienced, and I have been fortunate enough to work with some incredible companies. The CEO, Dave Durand, is inspiring and humble and encouraging. My division and regional management team, Kevin and Jeremy, are supportive, informative, and terrific motivators. If looking for training, support, motivation, encouragement or a reality check, it's just a phone call away. The wisdom and expertise of my peers and leaders is shared openly and consistently. My favorite thing about working with Best Version Media is the training is aimed at helping you realize the best version of yourself in every way. I am passionate about the product we produce and love that this company is designed to help everyone from employees to clients to readers win! This is an exciting and rewarding adventure, I can not thank all who make this happen enough!

Cons

It takes perseverance to build your magazine. The negative is the gap in income from hire date to print. However, follow the metrics, believe in yourself, your product, and your community, and you will reap the fruits of your labor.
