Pharmacy is a good place to work

Pros

Pharmacists are treated as professionals and not just as robots. The pharmacy was busy, but there was plenty of well-trained support staff. The hours are good as they close at 7:00 p.m. and are closed on Sundays. The pharmacy upper management is responsive and helpful as they have worked there way up through the pharmacy ranks.

Cons

Drive-thru window (as in any pharmacy), no dedicated and private space for immunizations

Good first job, but no career.

Pros

Coworkers are friendly & helpful, good pay, never get scheduled past 8:00pm. Employee discount is very good, smaller employee-owned corporation. Tries to have lots of local products.

Cons

Not much room for growth unless you want to be a manager or move to Eugene if there is even an opening at corporate office. Many people who work at the corporate office got there by politics & not skill or knowledge so they are constantly making mistakes the store-level employees have to correct & get blamed for by customers that don't understand. Many things go uncorrected or unimproved because the corporate employees don't value the store employees opinions & are more focused on making the company bigger than improve the quality of what it is currently - a small corporation. They also are very conservative & ban all visible tattoos & gauges. You are only allowed 2 lobe piercings per ear & it doesn't look like they are going to ever accept more than that. Very specific wardrobe policy. You basically have to wear office work clothes for a rough job that tears them up or ruins them within months. Workload is getting heavier each year as the corporate office tries to limit the amount of full time workers needed per department, adding new services with no real training, have to teach yourself because management doesn't set aside time to train. Equipment is outdated & for the most part second-hand. Customer service is basically scripted because we get secret shoppers, but if you do go by the script like you're supposed to it angers customers because they feel like you think they're stupid or it's annoying to them. If one person gets one thing wrong in a shop - even if everyone/everything else is perfect- the entire store fails. Even though when they made that script the employees didn't have half as much workload as now.
