Pros

It was the people you worked with.

Cons

Very top-heavy company. Held back on going public for a long time, laid off people. Hired more "leaders" after hollowing-out the technical org. Went the SPAC route to going public, laid off people, hired more "leaders" Stock goes downhill for a year. Sold to a PE firm for less than the SPAC stock price, annoying investors and employees. Now significant numbers of layoffs across the company. For a place that used to pride itself on people and culture it certainly jettisoned that in a hurry when it started looking to go public, and it's only gotten worse. New CEO's gonna take the brunt of this even though the dysfunction goes back years.

Pros

The people inside our department

Cons

When hired the CFO was asked how he felt about the company going public soon and his response was "He told leadership 100 times not to and its going to be a massive mistake." Should have been a warning for things to come but stock plummeted once live. Layoffs happened once then the company was bought out which led to more layoffs with most seniors I saw move up to different departments quitting within a month due to over work and poor structure. Yikes.

Pros

The people with whom I work directly, the people who actually do the work that powers the product lines, are really great and a joy to work with on a day-to-day basis. They respect and help each other which helps in such a stressful work environment.

Cons

The executive level (CEO, CTO, Exec. V.P.'s etc.), and upper management are evolving into a clique who see the profits of the company as the only goal to reach. They are making decisions and implementing policies that are creating a toxic work environment. Example: the company just relocated from central Denver to an office near DIA - with complete disregard for the negative consequences this would have on the employees whose commute it would impact. The executives are fostering an environment that rewards backbiting, secrecy and deceit while punishing honesty and forthrightness. Their growing disdain for constructive criticism and advice from subordinates below (those of us in the trenches), is beginning to lead to attrition among the rank and file. Skilled and talented people are leaving to seek healthier, more accepting environments in which to grow their careers.
