Pros

Love working for Biltmore. The family that owns the company is very down to earth. The Company has strong core values and getting to be part of the preservation mission is really cool. I love that this place has been around for over 100 years and has such a deep history. The people here are amazing, I am treated with respect and my co-workers seem to want to do their best. I have really enjoyed learning more about sustainability and green practices here. Mr. Vanderbilt set the tone and it is still happening today with solar, canola, and green restaurants. They also do a lot to care for the community and I've seen them rally big time when employees have illnesses or emergencies. Overall, a great place to work!

Cons

Asheville has a high cost of living in terms of rent/real estate, so you have to factor that into your paycheck. Also, hours can be slow in January/February if you are part-time.

Pros

I love working here. I have a really close bond with my coworkers and other workers across the estate in my field. I am able to make connections and move up in my profession. I really respect the family and appreciate all that they have done to keep the estate beautiful.

Cons

I would like to see staff getting more leadership training. Younger staff who want to move up in the company need those kind of skills also and it seems that only once you have gotten the job that that is when you get trained/educated. Also for the amount of work and talented put in to the kitchens the pay is not great. Its hard to make a living income without working overtime or over exerting yourself.
