Pros

Working on the estate has many rewards. One of them is the fact that you are working with exceptional people. The attitude of those employed by the estate is overall very positive. A huge benefit of employment is a health clinic that is provided to the employees five days a week at no charge. Long tenured employees are a testament to the fact that you are valued and taken care of when you work on the estate.

Cons

They are not the top on the pay scale, but they pay a good wage. There are benefits that help to even it out. You are needed, so it is important that you are in good health and a reliable worker.

There is limited upward movement in some departments.

Pros

I am extremely lucky to love what I'm doing and the people I work with, including my boss. I have very little experience with other departments and how they might be run, but speaking from my own experience this is a good place to work. There are also lots of employee perks that the estate offers, including an on-site clinic, an estate raised meat share, ticket giveaways, etc. I really appreciate those little things. Biltmore seems to be an inclusive place, they tout the need for diversity and inclusivity, and it seems to be at least in part reflected in their staff. They have just recently lifted a "no tattoos" mandate, and now employees are allowed to be tattooed (as long as tattoos are not offensive). I feel that this is a big step forward seeing as how tattoos have absolutely nothing to do with how professional you are, or are not.

Cons

The pay is not amazing. It's not necessarily bad, but it's not as good as I feel like it could be considering how much money this estate brings in, and knowing how expensive cost of living in Asheville is.
