Pros

Blackbaud is a well-established software community that exclusively works with the non-profit world. There are a lot of ways that the company helps you to literally help others who are trying to make a difference in the world. They also give you back vacation time for time that you spend volunteering in the community. I could go on and on about the pros. A lot of the employees are creative and smart, and it's rewarding to get to work alongside them.

Cons

Because of the fact that Charleston is such a small tight-knit community, there is definitely a little/a lot of nepotism and The Good Ol' Boy system. You have to be careful not to ruffle the wrong feathers. The only other major con is that the pay is way below national averages for nearly all positions. Charleston is growing and it's very expensive to live here. The Compensation Analysts admit to the fact that there is a gap between what they pay for cost of labor vs the cost of living in this area.

Helping nonprofits to be more successful in raising money or doing advocacy in support of their mission.

Cons

Senior Management is totally disengaged from significant challenges in the company Mentality from Execs is to push employees so hard to produce that they reach breaking point and quit - which is happening a lot If management says they will fix issues, nothing really happens to fix them - just lip service Lack of training across the board and way too much turnover Little opportunity for career advancement Extremely low morale and job satisfaction

Pros

Great opportunity to learn about the many amazing nonprofit organizations that focus on making a difference in their communities.

Cons

Heavy focus on billing and utilization can sometimes put consultants in the position to make decisions and actions that are not in the best interest of the customers. Difficulty in finding solutions to technical issues can have negative impact on consultant utilization, even when the situation is out of the consultant's control.
