Pros

A really great coffee set up and game room. Good time off and depending on the manager, the ability to work from home and phone it in remotely. Good benies, but they have gotten more expensive over time.

Cons

No one really cares which is VERY unfortunate. Those who cared have either left or are heading out. The Austin office is a ghost town and morale is horrible in almost every department! Unfortunately, the employee of the month is either the ping pong table or the pinball machine. Management is clueless to the audience they serve. Too many VP's have been recycled to other departments as they checked needed boxed for diversity. Old Support Leadership now runs Customer Success as they did Support. Very sad to a lack of expertise here. Support model has been decimated and blown sky high with almost every fix requiring a cost to the client. This has destroyed the morale in the Success teams and upset the customer base to no end. Employees get very little equity if any. Leadership gets a ton of equity and is very much a buddy buddy group of ex-colleagues from past jobs. Massive nepotism and be careful what you say in public. The walls have ears. No promoting anyone remote. Must be in a HQ office to be a leader or manager.

Pros

Blackbaud has really devoted and quality customers.

Cons

Zero respect for sales staff, and many in other departments and leadership view sales as entitled and unnecessary. There is a growing sentiment that BB can excel without a quality salesforce. Overall target earnings for sales are well below market standards and there is no concern about this.

Thank you for your perspective. Blackbaud is very much a sales oriented company and our continued investment in both the product portfolio (RE NXT, FE NXT, Attentive.Ly, our ONsuite of K12 solutions, ALTRU) as well as the internal investments in sales force efficiency and effectiveness tools are clear indications that we not only value our sales teams but have a vested interest in making them as successful as possible. Blackbaud feels the combination of our sales success opportunity combined with the benefit of fueling the missions of non-profit organizations creates a motivation for our sales teams that is unique in the software and technology space.

Pros

Nice people. Enjoyed some of my teammates. Good work life balance.

Cons

This is not a serious IT shop. They have no regard for industry best practice. Security is a joke. No QA, no Active Directory management, no identify management, poor architecture and technical debt that will take years and years to overcome. Leadership has been at BlackBaud for decades and they are not open to new ideas from new employees coming to BlackBaud from the outside. Management is fine with letting customers struggle with poor performance. They will get around to fixing it eventually. There is a very high turnover rate and anyone who is a serious IT pro does not stay around very long.
