      Blackbaud is not what it used to be and not what they want you to see

      Pros

      Team members are supportive and collaborative, so at first it seems like a great culture. Work-life balance afforded by remote first work environment.

      Cons

      I joined Blackbaud b/c of their advertised values and focus on helping non-profits and the social good. It soon becomes apparent that these are not lived values by management and ELT. They are a for-profit company, positioning themselves for sale. Blackbaud performs two layoffs per year (in the past 5 months, 14% of the workforce were let go) while the ELT cashes in on stocks. Instead of fixing or growing products, they acquire failing companies and then lay off employees to meet the factor 40.

      Missing the whole point of serving good

      Pros

      Going downhill quickly and will crash and burn. Hostile takeover in progress.

      Cons

      Soon the terrible management that has existed there will be replaced and it might actually get better again.

      Pros

      The corporate mission sounds good and is the primary reason people join Blackbaud.

      Cons

      Very performative in terms of saying all the right things, but follow through is lacking. Poor leadership decision-making, slow to embrace change, very process driven, about 15-20 years behind modern tech companies. Newer, more innovative talent will be frustrated by their plodding incumbents. Attrition is through the roof.
