You can work alongside some great people! The mission is strong, however, the way the executives and business act on this mission makes for friction within the social good community. You read about it all the time on social posts.

Cons

Annual lay offs - for the last 7/8 years! I have lost count. CEO recently arrested this year for drinking under the influence. He took no responsibility and claimed he was at a family dinner...mind you he was booked at 6 am in the morning. They removed cash bonus and replaced with stock bonus that has to vest for 1 year. Problem with this, is that stock tanks or you get laid off = no bonus at all. Leadership feels that stock is strong but they are blind to reality. Extremely weak benefits package! It is shocking that this Benefits team finds our offerings competitive. It goes to show how ignorant they are in terms of competitive analysis in the industry.

The people culture used to be really great. The coworkers I met turned into some of my closest friends, which is why I stayed as long as I did.

Cons

Upper management. Unfortunately, there's a huge lack of diversity at Blackbaud, and a quick look at their executive board makes it very obvious. Many employees started their career there and have been there for 20+ years, and those are the people who are most resistant to change and have the loudest voice. Unfortunately, Blackbaud lays people off every year so you can never really know who is next. I remember the first layoff where we told this wouldn't become an annual thing, except it did. The most recent layoff cut people who had been there 20+ years, and for some of those people, Blackbaud was the only job they ever had. Pretty brutal. They also get away with underpaying their employees because they lean into the fact that people like working there because of their mission and customers. Start your career here but don't stay long so you can get the pay raise you deserve somewhere else.

Before I started working at Blackbaud I was chided about their nickname of "Blackheart". It turns out the moniker is correct. It's a very toxic place to work. Despite my personal success, I did not enjoy my time there.

Cons

Senior management operates like an old boys club. They will do ANYTHING to squeeze out another penny from a customer.
