Pros

People, Laid back environment (ruined by COVID), Easygoing team lead, Networking Opportunities - for some. I was lucky to be supported by good leaders and management who helped me to move forward in my career but that's not the case, or even average, for everyone.

Cons

oo many to list but here it is in short: If you want a micromanaged, numbers-focused sales job where you don't get paid enough; it's the job for you. If you want career growth but aren't willing to work for dirt, then this isn't the job for you. Cold calling to advertise software that you know nothing about makes absolutely no sense. There's no training on product knowledge and you'll feel like you know nothing even after working the job for years. No learning opportunities - we're feeding people vague sentences and empty promises of helping but aren't able to back up any of those statements with even the simplest of features. Sometimes it feels like the blind leading the blind. You feel guilty for taking days off - and are stressed that you're "wasting time" when you do because of an unattainable quota goal hanging over you? AEs regularly oversell on our product features and rely on customer support and success to fix their issues, not to mention they upsell potential customers and rope them into contracts they can't afford. I recently found out that lots of organizations are not getting notifications of their contracts and find out on their expense reports about Blackbaud charges that aren't authorized by the correct people - that's a huge problem on top of our security issues already. Good luck if you can make it out of the BDR trenches not completely burnt out. COVID has made the mental aspect of this job even worse - but I suppose some type of income is better than none in this climate? Maybe.

Pros

Good benefits including paid time off and decent matching 401K (before the freeze on this due to COVID-19 cutbacks). Many of the employees genuinely care about their customers and work hard to take care of them.

Cons

The company has incentives to move employees to Charleston, and everything is very Charleston-focused. Even participating in calls remotely is challenging with poor audio and few people in headquarters turning on their video cameras. The workforce strategy is such that unless you are in sales, there are hard limits as to your growth outside of Charleston. This hyper-focus on one city makes for an extremely homogeneous workforce with the leadership primarily being white male, so there is little diversity in thinking and a lot of politics to deal with. The politics seems exception for a relatively small (<4K employees) company. The company has moved away from providing a good customer experience. Customer success had been cut significantly and customer support has been offshored to Costa Rica. There's really no problem moving support to Costa Rica except that support reps are given one week's training on a lot of very different products. Support reps are incentivized to get a customer off of chat or the phone by sending links to knowledgebase articles and closing the case. Sales people aggressively sell add-on products to existing customers. There is very little ownership of customer accounts and sales territories change at least once a year. The focus is on net new customers and not retention, though with customers leaving in droves, there has been some focus on how to retain that revenue.

Pros

Stocked snack food, occasional breakfast provided, and cold brew on tap. Service Days x2 a year to volunteer as a company. Office location near fun shops and great lunch options. People there are passionate and great coworkers, volunteer for vacation days are awesome.

Cons

Discourages people working from home and even monitors who swipes in and out of the building. Removed gym access. Product is good but with so many products/ companies they've acquired its impossible to keep it all updated. Executives are a group of good ole' boys at the HQ in Charleston.
