Pros

Bonus, if you hit the KPI goals.

Cons

I was firstly contacted via am external recruiter, who promised me several benefits, such as flexible work hours and working from home, which was not the case. The first day of employment, the told us that there was a lack of communication between the recruitment agency and them, so everything the recruitment told us was a lie. The training consists on long videos (some of them more than two hours), with little chance of practicing the real work or shadowing with other team members. Once you start the delivering the job, it is really hard to hit the KPIs, since you barely know how to do the job. Avoid this company in Costa Rica at all cost.

Pros

Someday there might be a fire drill and that could be cool. Blackbaud buys up all its competitors, so if one business unit fails or becomes obsolete, they can just buy someone else. It is truly the land of milk and honey-- If you are semi-literate and don't push back too hard, you'll be successful without ever actually trying.

Cons

Micromanagement abounds. If there's a fire drill, you'll probably have to take PTO to cover the time you couldn't work. Tenured employees are frequently driven to the breaking point but only stay because it's impossible to find a new job when they have to give 10 days notice for any time off or face the consequences, including termination. People who don't deserve promotion are promoted and tenured employees are left to twist in the wind. Hard work and dedication don't matter, but responding to the right email in an email chain does. Trying to leave and be completely done is like trying to leave the mafia. Nobody in Human Resources knows what they are doing, and neither do any of the levels of management. Nobody is capable of acting on their own, but everyone is real good at passing responsibility around. Good luck receiving your full pay when you quit.

Pros

Blackbaud has some really great employees. I actually really love 99% of my daily interactions. The people of Blackbaud really make my day. The products are reasonably useful despite their financial burden to the client. My favorite part about working at Blackbaud is our clients. I have visited some of the most extraordinary non-profits. At times, my onsite relationship frankly makes me proud to do what I do.

Cons

Compared to the rest of the industry, Blackbaud’s compensation package is a joke. Despite my constant nagging to upper management, my employees receive sub-par salary increases compounded with ridiculously low starting salaries. Interviewees are originally baited with large bonus payouts. However, these payouts are exorbitantly taxed. When I need to hire a new employee, 10+% decline mid-interview due to our lower starting salary range. And these are kids right out of college! Blackbaud has lost its customer/employee focus. In the past 8-10 years, everything has changed. Upper management seems only concerned with their personal portfolios and company stock prices, which is reflected in every move they make. I can't describe how frustrating this ongoing issue has become and it makes me sick to my stomach.
