Pros

Most of your team cares about you, great training department, PTO is good for just starting out.

Cons

Managers are lacking skills, HR does not care about you or your problems one bit- they only look out for managers and above no matter how horrible that manager is, turning into a Wells Fargo type atmosphere with how sales-oriented they are becoming and incentive in the branches is capped, if you are even able to obtain their outrageous minimums so be prepared to sell your soul. No acceptance for people of color or different religions or sexual orientation since the CEO and HR Director are super Christian.

Thanks for the positive feedback on SPIRE’s Training Department and new hire benefits. We’re sorry that you felt SPIRE’s front line management and HR wasn’t supportive. SPIRE does strive to acknowledge changes that need to be made. In fact a few recent changes we’ve made include changes to our branch incentive program (which resulted in many more employees qualifying) along with launching a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council with plans to further enhance our organizational diversity. Part of our overall process does continue to encourage in-depth conversations with our members so we are better able to understand their financial needs. Overall, SPIRE does care about all employees and support them. Again, we thank you for your feedback.

Pros

Co-workers, genuine CEO, many long-time employees with impressive knowledge and fun personalities.

Cons

Some of the branch managers/assistant BM's have no idea how to perform the job they manage. Seemed as if they were hired because they knew someone, not because they were qualified. I'll admit, I was going through a rough time in life during my employment there and regretfully I was not a good employee because of it. However, I floated between 3 branches which were all a very different atmosphere. The job position was not well established. As a new employee with an impressive background of credit union experience, I felt stupidly underestimated having to witness a clueless manager epically fail at solving a basic system error. Adapting to a new branch atmosphere every week should have been a cake walk for me. Sadly, the gossipy unwelcoming and unappreciative employee cliques made it a nightmare. Only one branch I looked forward to going to, which resulted in excessive tardiness and call-ins at the branches I was miserable at. I take full responsibility for my poor work ethic during my employment at Spire and I'm embarrassed that I couldn't do better at the time. However, I didn't realize how unbelievably miserable that job was until I was fired from it. Devastation of losing my job quickly turned into a sigh of relief. Bummer I didn't have a better experience but maybe it just wasn't for me.
