Pros

- Pays relatively well - Free lunch and snacks (pre-pandemic) - Below VP level there are some very talented and wonderful people that you are lucky to meet and work with. People care about each other and about the work they do. - Good benefits

Cons

- What all the other reviews said - Leaders care more about profits and looking good for investors than the well-being of their employees. - One story: The same day that 20+ employees (mainly in product/engineering) were laid off for alleged covid/budgeting reasons, the HR team told us in an all-hands meeting that Blink is still hiring for product and engineering roles, and encouraged us to refer any friends whose jobs may have been affected by the economic situation. Completely tone-deaf (why yes, I actually know about 20 people who were just laid off for covid/budgeting reasons, what a coincidence!). It was a funny and very sad example of how the HR & leadership teams seem to live in their own separate fantasy world. - Constant turnover, whether from layoffs or people choosing to leave. Often these departures are not announced, and you only find out when you see that their Slack account has been deactivated. This is obviously bad for morale, but even if we pretend we're all robots who don't care about our coworkers, knowledge about this industry and about the history of our product is so important. Without that context we make worse decisions and break things more frequently, and seemingly simple tasks end up taking double or triple the amount of time and effort.

Pros

Mission sounds good during interviews and onboarding. They sell themselves well to new employees. If you have ideas, they will let you run with it.

Cons

Kind of disorganized and disconnected teams. Leadership is secretive and not friendly. The CEOs walk around ignoring everyone and even at the all-hands meetings seem to not realize anyone is there except 3 of their senior execs. A lot of Amazon folks being hired rapidly which is not exactly known as a great place to work. It has noticeably impacted the vibe of the place. People are being hired and fired at random within months, with little explanation. In December they laid off the entire Marketing team (25 people!) with a vague "we are changing direction on product" and insisted this was a on-off situation. But then for the next month people were being laid off in small drips nearly every day. When asked about this at all-hands mtgs, it was brushed off. Very worrying, and causes employees to not trust leadership.

Pros

- Higher than average pay - Unlimited PTO - Remote work

Cons

- Company is helmed by spoiled children with the ethics of sociopathic crocodiles. - Technical leadership are primarily Indian yes-men from large companies with no clue how to manage small teams that have limited resources. Meaning the expectations are suited to large teams with large budgets and there's a lack of comprehension of any ground truth. - Champagne and caviar demands on a beer and hotdog budget. - Toxic work environment that is managed rather than corrected. Meaning that they are OK with the work environment being toxic, so long as the impact is contained to staff. - Constant lies and gaslighting meant to string you along as long as possible. - Most of the people in the company that stick around are either inner circle people, desperate people, and people who thrive in toxic environments. - Don't be fooled by the shiny, happy, interview process. You will just be another cog in the capital farming machine and you will know disappointment. - For those of us interviewing you, we know we will get fired if we suggest anything but shiny happiness to you and it makes it back to leadership. We want to tell you to run. - Constant high turnover due to all of the above.
