Pros

If you know how to teach and build a rapport with those whom you teach, and meet your objectives, you will be okay and management will leave you alone (as long as you do what they expect of you). The compound and housing are good. The pay is higher than most contracts can offer here in Saudi Arabia. Management will leave you alone if you show them you are competent and adept in teaching and classroom management. Compared to other ELT jobs in Saudi Arabia, it really isn't that bad. With that said, it's a job and a fair amount of professionalism is needed. If you just do what they say and see it as a job which comes with responsibilities, you will be okay.

Cons

The biggest issue in terms of teaching here is that the cadets are tired and they like to sleep, so you need to be on their case. Management wants you to deal with this, as it is happening in your classroom. If you can handle that and get through the lessons, you will do fine here. If you complain a lot and ask "why" to everything they ask of you, you will most definitely find it difficult to manage here. The same could be said for working anywhere, though. Management here will get on your case, but only if you give them reason to.

Pros

The classes are small, you get DLI certification and use their materials, and the students are frequently tested in 3-week cycles, so that you change your students regularly.

Cons

The management is disorganized, Machovelian, and unable to maintain any consistency with its rules. We went through many management changes, including administrative directors, supervisors, deputy directors, administrators, etc. I was only there a year and saw a constant flow of management coming and going. The rules change almost daily as to what you can and can't do. The HR department is terrible. They are slow to respond, and I ended up losing a lot of money as a result of their negligence. They still haven't reimbursed my travel benefit from 2016.
