Pros
The best part of this job was working with the students and watching them succeed. After that, it wad my teammates. There were many days the only reason I survived was they had my back.
Cons
The disorganization and lack of knowledge by the person who runs the St. Louis program is the largest problem. He is clueless and a terrible leader. Sadly, the only thing he understands is "do it my way." Many of the Fellows in St. Louis have more teaching experience than him and that is a source of insecurity for him. Do not get me wrong, he is extremely intelligent. When it comes to the practical applications in a classroom, he falls short. Just because you read something in a book does not mean it translates in the classroom verbatim. Most of the time you have to be willing to be flexible. If you hear, " let's table this for now and come back to it later" that means he does not know what to do or is frustrated and will not talk about it. As an administrator you cannot say that to your Fellows. We always were promised help or materials or something special for our students, we never got any of the things we were promised. On a regular basis the Fellows hear, "I am Blueprint!" " I'm the boss and I said so." Not words to encourage faith and respect in a leader. Even the students have zero respect for him nor do they like him. Another big issue I have with Blueprint is the fact the Fellows keep making the same complaints, sharing the same concerns and NOTHING changes. The words fall on closed ears. If the same problems keep being brought up, something needs to change.
