Pros

BPCS is just as the title says. However, if you are junior and looking to spring board your career and up level your responsibility this is a great place. There is lots of freedom and opportunity to spread one’s wings. The empowerment to take initiatives and run with them is nice as well, they just won't always come to fruition. Flexibility and freedom in terms of schedule is also a plus, but this wouldn’t apply to everyone, it is depending on the role.

Cons

The lack of a defined career path and constant moving targets makes this place frustrating to work at times. Initiatives go through fits and spurts and it can be disheartening to learn that something you’ve worked hard on and was told is important is now just an afterthought. Years ago, working at a place I was praised for my ability to make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear. Here, that’s the expectation daily and with the lack of support and resources that can be tiring. There is a level of cronyism which can also be hard to stomach. Finally, the benefits need some maturity; particularly the 401k model, lack of transportation benefits and no gym benefits.

Pros

Decent starting pay ($24/hr) and good benefits.

Cons

Management promises the world yet constantly strings employees along for months without delivering. Team lead and specialized positions are given to friends/relatives/spouses who are incompetent. HR is almost non-existent and scheduling time off nigh impossible. You must work all holidays your normal schedule falls on. Training is awful and the people who are supposed to be wellsprings of knowledge honestly have no idea what they are doing. Word of mouth changes and tribal knowledge that differs from team to team causes poor quality control. Lack of guidelines and/or conflicting guidelines create inter-departmental conflicts on a daily basis.
